GG pays tribute to Niblett

Governor General Sir Bob Dadaehas expressed sadness at the passing of oncologist Dr John Niblett.
The late Niblett passed away on Tuesday, July 4, at the Angau Memorial Hospital in Lae.
Sir Bob described Niblett as a selfless, caring and kind-hearted individual who put others’ interests and wellbeing ahead of his.
“I take this opportunity on behalf of the people of Papua New Guinea to express my condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the late Dr Niblett. His passing is a great loss to the people of Papua New Guinea.
“As an oncologist, he served our nation with such passion and commitment to the care and treatment of cancer patients, many of whom have benefited from his assistance.
“We recall a man who, despite his own disability, put others ahead of him. His spirit of humility, kindness and compassion has touched many lives and will be long remembered.
“Lady Hannah and I convey our deepest condolences and sympathies to wife of Dr Niblett, Andrea and their children, friends and relatives in Papua New Guinea and Australia. We pray for peace and God’s
grace upon you all during this difficult time.”
