THE governor-general is yet to receive the Leadership Tribunal’s recommendation that North Fly MP Boka Kondra be dismissed from office, according to his secretary Sir Tipo Vuatha.
Sir Tipo was responding to the Supreme Court’s concern last week over the delay by the governor-general in dealing with the tribunal’s recommendation.
Sir Tipo said the tribunal’s recommendation was yet to be forwarded to the governor-general to execute.
Sir Tipo said it was the responsibility of the authorities to ensure that the recommendation of a Leadership Tribunal was made available to the governor-general.
In Kondra’s case, it was the office of the Supreme and National Courts, he said. He had sought clarification on the matter.
“The inference that the governor-general deliberately held back the executing of the decision of the Leadership Tribunal is incorrect and very misleading,” Sir Tipo said.
“I call on the media to report fairly and to seek facts from the relevant authorities before publishing their reports. In this case the Office of the Governor-General was never consulted.
“Such could lead to public misconception and unnecessarily bring into question the integrity of an office holder. I have contacted the Supreme and National Courts office to clarify the matter.”
Justice George Manuhu, Justice Allen David and Justice Hitelai Prolume Kiele raised their concern when presiding over a stay application filed by Kondra.
