Education

MODERN technology will be helping students with quality books and increase in literacy rates in the country, says Book Bilong Pikinini founder Anne-Sophie Hermann.
Hermann told The National during the launching of gift shop website in Port Moresby on Friday that they are looking forward to support more children and teachers across the country to have books available in the classroom.
She said they had given out 1.5 million books to:

  • ELEMENTARY;
  • PRIMARY;
  • SECONDARY; and,
  • VOCATIONAL schools since 2007 and would continue to support them throughout the years.

She urged people to buy the books for PNG schools through ecommerce website using credit cards and made an impact in the children’s future in education.
Hermann acknowledged the efforts of Bank South Pacific and the SNS Tech Limited and other partners for making things possible to sell books globally to help schools in the country.
Speak and Spend tech chief executive Samson Korawali said education is the heartbeat of any nation and that aspires to develop, transform and then thrive.
“We have seen the amazing contribution in this space, that Buk Bilong Pikinini has been doing and felt compelled to help in the building of their new online web gifting shop,” Korawali said.
Book Bilong Pikinini executive officer Leanne Resson said they were grateful to share their work with a world-wide audience and receive donation to help and support more schools in our country with books or library kits.
