Give teachers what they deserve

Letters

NATIONAL Teachers Day was recently celebrated across the country.
Children were reading poems, singing beautiful songs, putting up creative dances, presenting gifts and presents to their hardworking and caring teachers as tokens of appreciation.
Parents and other stakeholders also participated in the celebration in support of their children.
That demonstrated how they love and acknowledge the efforts by teachers in educating their children.
Some officers from the Education Department attended celebrations in various schools praising teachers for their hard work in implementing the Government’s reform policies.
However, the Government has turned a blind eye on teachers’ plights.
Teachers have never really enjoyed their privileges in terms of correct salaries scale, underpaying, and poor accommodation among other issues.
Give them what they deserve.
