Gobe landowners demand MoA funds

National, Normal

GOBE oil fields landowners from Southern Highlands province want the National Government to pay them their outstanding memorandum of agreement (MoA) funds and honour its other commitments.
They want this payment done sooner before they could go for the licenced-based benefits sharing agreement (LBBSA) forums at respective projects sites in the province that gets underway next week.
The call was made by Paul Limpia, incorporated landowner group (ILG) leader from the Luhalipu clan and public officer representing the 21 ILGs of Gobe project.
Mr Limpia said this yesterday following media reports that Kutubu and Juha oil field landowners had obtained National Court orders restraining Department of Petroleum and Energy (DPE) and developer ExxonMobil to proceed with the licenced-based forums.
