THE Waghi Tumbe rugby league club has been challenged to get its house in order and prepare for the upcoming Digicel Cup next month.
Former chairman Frank Goi called on caretaker manager Francis Pau to immediately convene a board meeting to get the ball rolling.
Goi, who was at the helm of Tumbe for the last two seasons, said the board had to meet and organise sponsors for the upcoming semi-professional competition.
He said the Tumbe were the pride of Jiwaka and he urged all stakeholders working in and around the province to support the representative franchise.
Unlike other clubs, who recruit players from other centres, the Tumbeonly recruit locla talent from Jiwaka.
They have done this through local competitions and using the Ipatas Cup as well.
Goi, who handed over the reins to Pau, said he was a satisfied man after leading the Tumbe for the last two years.
“We’ve achieved two major goals; to get the Tumbe back into the Digicel Cup and to establish a home for the franchise, which we did at Minj,” Goi said.
Goi thanked Jiwaka Governor Dr William Tongamp and local business houses for supporting the Tumbe from 2015 to 2016 and urged their continued support.
