Goi seeks equal participation among leaders

JIMI MP Wake Goi, pictured, says he wants team work among leaders and people in the district irrespective of their political affiliations.
“Whether you supported me or not is not the problem. I am your leader now. I need you to work with me as we take on this challenge to serve the 60,000-plus people of Jimi,” he said.
“I believe in honesty, transparency, accountability and fairness through unity. We cannot create miracles overnight. The needs and expectations of the people exceed the resources we have.
“But the most important thing is that I need your moral support and cooperation.
“I need public servants to pull up their socks.
“There is no master greater than his servants.
“My office will not tolerate public servants who are lazy and complacent.
“The people of Jimi deserve the best from us because they have suffered enough in the last 40 years.”
Just months into office, Goi, who is Works and Implementation Vice Minister, has spent money on improving the road in the district.
While road projects are ongoing, he has subsidised air transport for his people living in places inaccessible by road.
Goi will also be sponsoring Jimi students enrolling in tertiary institutions.
“We are not rocket scientists to do things in one go but if we can work together as a team to develop Jimi,” he said.
Goi said human resource was his most important development agenda which has the potential to improve the district.
“Once the funds come in, we will give you start up capital to start up your small businesses to improve your livelihoods,” he said.
