Goi should build more footbridges in Jimi

Letters

JIMI MP and Community Development Youth and Religion Minister Wake Goi should build several footbridges across the fast flowing rivers in his district to prevent the loss of more lives.
Five lives have been lost recently.
They tried crossing Jimi, Kon, Walne and Mantz rivers.
The recent death was a female Grade 9 student who attended Jimi Secondary School.
She was swept away by Walne River. The incident happened on April 9 when she was returning to her Ambellua village after visiting a friend at Kol.
On Feb 16, a mother and her three children were swept away by Walne River on their way home from their garden.
Five lives were lost within three months.
Since Goi was elected into parliament in 2007, he built eight foot bridges.
Those bridges are still in use.
Those eight bridges were built at separate locations, but some areas still need bridges.
Jimi is located in remote Jiwaka.
The electorate is mountainous and has several fast flowing rivers.
Lives are at risk if footbridges are not built across the fast flowing rivers.
