Goilala in Central has sent its first six students to the Madang Maritime College for a career in seamanship.
The students are 2020 graduates from the Tapini Sacred Heart Secondary School who took up the challenge from their MP William Samb to see the district’s first captain.
During the 2020 graduation, Samb said the Goilala development authority would offer sponsorship to the six.
Tapini Secondary’s deputy board chairman Perai Manai said this first batch was brave.
“This is untrodden area for us, a mountain district, but these kids are eager,” he said. “My advice to this pioneer batch is that the continuation of such arrangement depends on their performance.” Manai said Goilala children should challenge themselves to expand their horizon in education.
