TERTIARY students from the Kundiawa-Gembolg in Chimbu will benefit from a new scholarship programme to be introduced soon, MP William Golg says.
This scholarship, to be known as Kundiawa District Tertiary Students Scholarship Programme, will run for the next five years.
Golg said that the programme was in line with the district five-year development plan.
He said that education was one of the district’s priorities and the scholarship would help parents and students during these hard economical times.
He said that the O’Neill government’s free education policy has greatly assisted the students from primary to secondary schools.
“Now the district will chip in to assist a portion of the tertiary students so that they can also continue their studies.”
Golg said that the district administration was still working on the data for tertiary students and once that was completed the programme would commence.
He said with the limited resources they have, the district would not be able to fully pay the prescribed fees but the district education division was working to ensure an even amount was made available for all students.
