Good things heading to Tewai-Siassi

THE letter “We want services” and “Where is MP for Tewai-Siassi?” (May 9) cannot go unchallenged.

If both writers were really from Siassi, they would know what our good MP is doing in terms of development on the island.

For the first time, Siassi has a true leader who is not only developing his area of Tewai.

If you read The National on May 6, you would know what exactly is happening on the island.

If you were on the island, you would know that Fisheries Minister Mao Zeming and Agriculture Minister Tommy Tomscholl have both committed K1 million each to rehabilitate the Gezarum plantation for cocoa production.

The Gassam jetty will be constructed as Zeming mentioned, but as per government policy, it has to go through the tender process and approved by the Central Supplies and Tenders Board first.

This shows that our MP is serious in developing Siassi Island using reputable construction companies.

We, Siassi islanders, are looking forward to the homecoming of the barge that the MP bought last year so we can ship our cash crops such as cocoa to Lae.

If you are an intellectual Siassian, I ask that you contribute positively by making positive comments of how to develop the island.

If you are one of the political rivals hiding behind pennames, I ask that you shut up and wait for 2017.
