GOROKA rules the lawn bowls men’s national pennants played at the Lae Bowling Club over the weekewnded.

IT was doubly sweet for the highlanders as Goroka 1 beat Goroka 2 by six shots to win 14-8.

It was a sweet win for the Goroka bowling club after they were dethroned in 2011 by Bulolo, which kept the shield for the past two years.

Third place went to Lae, while  defending champions Bulolo settled for fourth. The club’s that took part were Goroka, Mt Hagen, Madang, Defence (Port Moresby), Bulolo and Lae.

Goroka 1 team of Wilson Unua, Peter Juni, L. Hoffman and J. Morgan were given a fair challenge by their counterparts from Goroka 2, which consisted of Six Unua, L Akeke, A Somu and M Kisikau.

The Mt Hagen Bowling Club will host the men’s triples in three weeks, while Port Moresby will stage the 2015 men’s pennants title before the Pacific Games.
