Government not addressing children’s welfare

Letters, Normal

I REFER to your report “K5, price of a child’s life” (July 14).
It hurt me when I read the report.
This is one of the many thousands of stories we hear, read and witness daily as we struggle to survive.
What is really disgusting is nothing is done by the past and present governments to address this issue.
As Community Development Minister Dame Carol Kidu pointed out
in last Friday’s The National: “No one in parliament has asked me a question about women and children’s welfare.”
I wonder who our MPs are representing – some multi-national companies or the animals in the bush?
Our mothers, children, people with disabilities and youths are forever marginalised by successive governments.
Only Dame Carol and NCD Governor Powes Parkop are fighting for their people.
For the others, it is about getting multi-billion kina projects up and running.
