KUMUL Telikom Holdings Ltd deputy chairman Rueben Kautu is asking provincial and district administrations to partner with PNG Dataco Ltd to deliver internet services to the people.
“We would like to partner with the provincial governments and the districts in terms of getting the connection right to their people,” he said.
“The district offices are the key offices that we need to connect and it is on our part as well to work with the districts through their leaders.
“Commercially, we can make it available to the people but we also want to make sure that this service is available to the people who cannot access these services, that’s where the government comes in and we also play a vital role in providing that assistance.
“In terms of connectivity through the infrastructure, we understand that we are still incapable of reaching some of those areas.
“We have the OBG that runs through power lines but some parts of the areas that don’t have OBG on it, the same cable can go up to the power lines and reach those places,” he said.
“We’ll probably use a different solution in terms of satellite, building towers, just connecting the cables to the satellite, beaming it up and placing down to the districts.”
