MADANG Governor Peter Yama has apologised to Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and the people of Papua New Guinea on behalf of Madang if MP Bryan Kramer’s conduct was not appropriate of a leader.
Yama said sorry in Parliament on Friday if the Madang MP had overstepped the mark through his criticisms.
“With respect to the young leader (Kramer) on the other side, he is a young leader and prime minister, you and I are older and we will finish politics but he will carry on from us,” Yama said.
“He will appreciate the good infrastructure we put up but it is important that we work together for the good of the people of Madang.
“Therefore, on behalf of the people of Madang, I thank you prime minister for partnering me to get the infrastructure and the many major developments in Madang.”
Yama said as a leader, Kramer had the right to say things he felt were right but if something he said was not right as a leader, then he apologised on behalf of the people of Madang.
Yama said Kramer was entitled to make statements or raise concerns but if he did do things in the right way as a leader, then that was Ok but if he went beyond that then he was sorry.
Yama said as leaders of the nation, it was important to respect each other and work together for the good of the people.
As such, he thanked and welcomed the announcement by O’Neill to fix Madang, including the maintenance of its deteriorating roads.
O’Neill told Yama that he would work with him to develop Madang and Kramer could concentrate on Facebook.
O’Neill said he was taking over Kramer’s job to fix Madang because he had neglected it as he spent his time on social media.
