GOVERNOR-General Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae has described the late Sir Pita Lus as a dynamic leader whose leadership style could be emulated by todays’ leaders.
Sir Bob in his tribute to Sir Pita said: “It is with great sadness that we have lost another founding father of our country, Sir Pita Lus.
“Throughout his 38 years in politics, Sir Pita demonstrated outstanding leadership on behalf of his people of Maprik (in East Sepik).
“He spoke without fear and favour and was not afraid to speak his mind on issues affecting our country.
“We are indeed grateful for his fearlessness in the face of uncertainty in the years leading up to Independence and his faith in unity for our diverse people which eventuated in the birth of our nation 46 years ago.”
He said Sir Pita demonstrated strong and dynamic leadership.
“Lady Emeline joins me in conveying our heartfelt condolences and sympathies to Lady Lus, children and the people of Maprik,” he said.
“May divine grace and peace comfort you all through this difficult time.”
Sir Pita passed away in his home in Maprik, East Sepik, last week after a short illness. He was 86 years old.
