CHIMBU Governor Michael Dua says he was forced to lie down on the cement floor outside his 8-Mile Malolo Estate residence by gun-toting robbers on Saturday.
“The attack was preplanned and executed quickly. I had no time to react,” he added.
Relating the frightening experience, Dua said: “The robbers ordered me to lie face down on the floor.
“They then drove away in my vehicle containing a laptop, K50,000, and other personal items, including important documents.
“I could only call for help when they sped away in the car.”
A loaded pistol was also in the car leading police to suspect that the robbery was a preplanned job.
Total loss for Dua was about K250,000 in valuables, cash and car.
Dua also sent his condolences to the police constable who was gunned down by the robbers.
“I want the family to know, from the bottom of my heart, that I am sorry for their loss.
“I want the police to investigate thoroughly and ensure the capture of the cop killers,” he added.
Police on Monday, acting on a tip-off, launched a pre-dawn raid at the armed robbers’ hideout at 5-Mile Ridge.
However, a shootout occurred and Constable Presley Philip was shot dead before the robbers escaped in the dark.
