NCD Governor Powes Parkop has announced support of K300,000 to boost Women In Business in the nation’s capital.

The funds were from NCDC’s District Services Improvement Programme (DSIP).

He made the announcement during the graduation of PNG Women In Business last Friday where ten women graduated with certificates after undergoing a financial literacy training programme.

Parkop said getting financial skills and ability was a life changing effort for these women.

He encouraged WIB president Janet Sape to continue training women through the programme.

More women from the National Capital District were trained in financial literacy particularly, banking, and savings to help grow their businesses.

Parkop said: “When women are given such trainings, it goes a long way in changing a family as well as a nation.”

He urged the women to expand on their investments and grow their businesses activities in the city.

“Take business seriously and have the attitude of continue to save up and invest in other business areas once your initial business grows. Don’t just stick in one area,” Parkop said.

Meanwhile, in response to some public comments that Gordon’s market will face closure, Parkop said he would not allow that to happen.

“We will never shut down Gordon market because we should not deprive mothers and women from participating in the city’s economic activities,” he said.
