FINANCE and Rural Development Minister James Marape says the Government has the numbers, and is intact and ready to crush any vote of no confidence moved by the Opposition.
“We disposed of this (a vote of no-confidence) in 2016,” he said.
“We have the numbers, if the Opposition takes it on board.”
He said they could not stop the Opposition MPs from moving a motion to that effect.
“It is the right of the Opposition to go for a vote of no confidence.”
The Opposition MPs plan to move a “vote of no-confidence” motion against the Government early next year.
Meanwhile, Marape said the ministry had given the Apec Coordinating Authority the green light to have an asset inventory for everything acquired and used during Apec 2018.
“This inventory will cover all assets, including those that are donated and purchased by the Government for the Apec meeting,” Marape said.
He said once all assets were confirmed, the process of disposal would take place
Marape said all the vehicles bought would be tendered for sale “consistent with the law that governs the disposal of public assets or State properties”.
He also said the Lae City Authority was taking the “right step forward”.
He said leaders at the provincial level down to local-level governments and wards should work together for the betterment of Lae and adapt themselves to the new city authority.
