Govt must clarify education policy

Letters

WE were trying to register my child at a secondary school in Tewae-Siassi, Morobe, and we were told to a pay a K500 registration fee.
Many parents do not have this amount of money.
Many parents have spent money on other essentials, thinking that the subsidy from the Government through the free education policy would cover for the fees.
Can the Government and the Education Department clarify this?
Most parents do not understand the specifics of this policy.
Why is this secondary school charging K500 for registration?
It is frustrating when the information was not clear at the first place.
What are we going to do now?
We do not have the time to raise this amount of money and school has already started.
This secondary school has a record of losing thousands of kina to thugs in the previous years and the school is poorly managed.
I am appealing on behalf of other parents to the Morobe government to investigate schools to see that the Government’s subsidy to all schools, especially secondary schools, are managed properly so that they will have enough money left at the end of the year to start a new academic year.
