Govt not run by Aust advisers: PM

PRIME Minister James Marape has refuted claims that his Government is “being run by Australian advisers”.
He attributed the claims to political opponents who promoted fallacies and misconstrued facts for political mileage.
Marape warned the people to be on the lookout for political propaganda being driven by Ialibu-Pangia MP Peter O’Neill and Opposition Leader Belden Namah.
He said Cabinet was guided by the secretary and public service executives.
“Of course advisers are engaged, but in specialist areas where foreign aid and programmes are being run,” Marape said.
They are there to assist with those programmes,” he said.
“The Government listens to advice and we make the final decisions based on (what is in) the best interest of our country consistent with government policies and the laws.”
