THE Permanent Parliamentary Committee on Emergency has recommended to the Government to appoint a permanent provincial administrator for Southern Highlands to restore confidence and bring stability to the province.
It was part of a report tabled in Parliament by committee chairman Dr Kobby Bomareo on an independent assessment carried out by the committee into the earthquake-affected provinces.
It recommended that a permanent provincial administrator was urgently needed to provide leadership in carrying out disaster relief efforts and restoration works.
Meanwhile, a group of leaders from the province led by businessman Jerry Kulagil had raised the issue earlier, saying acting provincial administrator Thomas Eluh
had done very well to rpovide stability and peace in Southern Highlands.
They called on the Government to confirm Eluh in the position.
