Govt worked hard in first year to lay foundation: PM

PRIME Minister James Marape says the Government has worked hard in its first year in office to lay a strong foundation for a better future for the country.
Looking back at the first 365 days in office on Friday, Marape said not much had been done in terms of infrastructure but other areas had been improved on.
They include the budget, economic sector, social, law and order, Bougainville, legacy issues and the new trade “oriented policy”.
“Amid politics, the Covid-19, economic downturns and social tension, our Government has continued to build the foundations for what should emerge in the future,” Marape said.
“When you look at the 2019 supplementary budget, we delivered above 95 per cent of our budget intention.
“We are now delivering the 2020 budget with the Covid-19 amidst us. It wasn’t part of our forecast and readjustments are taking place.
“And by the time we conclude the 2020 financial year, the fullest impact of Covid-19 will be seen in our country.
“We are doing reforms in the way our treasury for instance mobilise resources to help our country and restored credibility of numbers released from the treasury house.
“In the social law and order sector, our Government has not been sleeping.”

  • Government worked hard? Then why has Kramer been unable to muster the energy to complete a simple audit? I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

  • PM JM you did a lot within 1 year period and people enjoyed to the fullest. You’ve stated to Take back PNG so exactly you did it well. You did following;
    1. Budget wisely for Covid-19 funds
    2. Supported surplus funds for this year’s budget without any foreign borrowings
    3. Take Back Porgera Gold Mine and all the employees and contractors enjoyed having work in the mine currently without expulsion or redundancy or laid off for non-payment.
    4. You did well to other project areas like Mt Kare, Freda River, Mt Kili, Mt Tundaka and others are now start carrying out their billion kina projects without any further delaying.
    5. You really supported LOs PNG LNG project and paid off their outstanding payments set up rigs in Kutubu, Gope, Gigira…… as you’ve mentioned.
    6. What you’ve said when you first occupied the office, you have mentioned so many things so really appreciate your leadership.

Words, without Action, are Meaningless. It is simple to promise something. “Easy to say, hard to do,” is one of the core principles of life. Words are essentially meaningless, unless you have the determination, the intent and the resolve to abide by them.

Congratulation for your 1 year term and hope you’ll be back after 2022 election and rule more terms as Peter O’Neil and late Anderson Agiru.

  • Pmjm, what are your strategies or policies to make png the richest black nation? I haven’t seen or heard much in this regard so please provide some update as we are all still waiting to hear..

  • Talkers will always be the talkers……this government is stagnant. When are we going to see delivery of services and major impact projects where job opportunities is created and many papua new guineans work and live their life? I think the current government is lost in the jungle dont know where to start and what to do. In international stage we are no longer better than other pacific island countries.

  • Can we just stop talking about things which we hold no solution at all, and stop depending on government to feed you like kid…think of an option you can tribute as person to your family, society and your nation.. that what it means by saying “Take Back PNG”

  • I congratulate the PM JM for being very honest in his leadership despite his past predecessors’ tyrannical leadership derailed his reputation. He was able to make important decisions claiming main sources of generating economy to give the sense of positive direction for Papua New Guinea. For instance, all the mine and LNG etc…. which is obviously a huge contrast to former regime. COVID 19 is effectively controlled with a very limited resources and what other first world countries are aiding. Significantly, the PM with his humanity, trusted in God’s sovereignty and grace that the PNG has come this far.

A very sensible sayings is that “Good things comes to those who wait” and with that let me leave you with this, don’t not jump to conclusion after a year for this Gov’t’s reign. I’m very observant the way PM JM and his colleagues are moving and they have work very to lay the foundation to take PNG back.

My observation is that the current regime will deliver PNG which PNC has wrecked. They deserve the second term in order for the country to witness the full fruition of PM JM words to bring PNG back. Otherwise, other parties with the former will be completely ruin the country.

Let’s pray and trust in God that the leaders work together for the better PNG.

  • When a God fearing leader in in reign the people rejoice .. PM, you are walking your talk. LETS TAKE BACK PNG. Its belt tightening time for us all for our better PNG tomorrow. We all have vast land to fall back on and you doing right to inject K200 million into banks so we can all get into sme and start taking back PNG ….I salute you PM
