GOWNS and hoods are being worn by primary and secondary school graduating students.

This ceremonial attire are traditionally for high achievers in tertiary institutions.

However, the significance of wearing a most awaited cloth at the end of each final academic year is eroded each year.

Sadly, the students unknowingly prided themselves with the cloths, leaving them with little to strive for in later part of their education.

The practice has developed to be a problem that needs government intervention.

A government needs to introduce a policy that should allow the gowns and hoods to be worn by high achievers attending  tertiary institutions only.

A bill must be introduced next year.
