A K2.4 million housing project has started in Port Moresby for Government Printing Office (GPO) staff.
A ground-breaking ceremony was held yesterday at the Rainbow Estate in Gerehu which paved the way for the project.
Witnessing the project was acting chief secretary Isaac Lupari, the management and staff of GPO.
Lupari said GPO had to go through due diligence process to ensure all government requirements like the Financial Management Act and the National Procurement Act were complied with.
“This is the result of it and I thank the project manager and people who worked behind the scene to enable this to happen,” he said.
“It’s never easy when you are dealing with many tenders and amounts of effort and time to go through assessing valuation of bidders that come through ensuring that the due process is done.”
Lupari commended Mobile Works Ltd for winning the K2.4mil contract which included the process that would take to issue titles to each of the allotments.
Mobile Works general manager Emmanuel Aiyopi said they were looking forward to starting work as soon as the paper work was put in place.
