Grade 10s sit for exam

MORE than 74,000 grade 10 students nationwide sat for their written expression examination in their schools yesterday.
The grade 10 written expression examination questions this year centred around two narrative essays – one relating to students adherence to three school rules and the other based on an imaginary story in a household setting.
Gordon Secondary School principal George Kenega said he expected their students to do well based on the results of mock exams they conducted before the examination.
“We have a total of 408 students, 216 girls and 192 boys who sat for the examination. I expect them to do well because they have done well in their mock exams,” he said.
Waigani Christian Academic College principal Abakure Kaupa also expected the same for their students, saying he was positive that the students would do well.
He said though the school had given a second opportunity to students, they had shown their academic potential by performing well in their internal assessments this year and also in the previous years.
“We give second chance to students to come and enroll in our school and they are performing extremely well. Some of our students have gone to the national school of excellence,” Kaupa said.
He said teachers had covered most of the topics and students were prepared for the examination.
A total 159 grade 10 students sat for the examinations yesterday.
