A MOTHER and her two daughters are thanking God for saving them after a huge landslide just missed their home as it swept about 200 metres downhill to a creek.
Dad Arnold Kumin, who was away at work as a security officer in Mt Hagen, said his wife Paula and daughters Melinda and Nancy were sleeping in their home at Wila village, outside Mt Hagen in Western Highlands, when the landslide happened. They heard the loud rumble coming down the hill, swept through the back of the home and down to a creek about 200 metres below.
“We thank God for saving our lives” he said.
Kumin said their home was on a slope and the landslide just missed it.
The family is now living with friends in the valley below.
Kumin plans to move their house there.
“We already moved our belongings and next week, I will dismantle the house,” he said.
