Grateful PNG staying with One-China policy

THE country acknowledges the many gifts and forms of assistance from China, and will continue to support the One-China policy, says Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Rimbink Pato.
He said during a joint press conference with Chinese State Councilor and Minister for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi that both countries wanted a peaceful Pacific region and world, “for the one human family to which everyone belongs”.
“Our bonds of friendship was built long time ago and reinforced at Independence. We have without fail upheld earnestly the one-China policy,” Pato said.
“Minister Wang is here at a time when the finishing touches are being given to preparations for the visit of President Xi Jingping.”
Pato said China had provided so many things to benefit countries such as PNG through a “remarkable spirit of generosity”.
“We only have to look to see evidence of that spirit and how generous China is being to us as hosts of Apec,” Pato said.
He said China had funded the building and upgrading of roads in Port Moresby such as the Independence Boulevard.
It also provided police vehicles “to ensure law and order in the city”
“They are among the many gifts from China that we have received,” he said.
“We express our deep appreciation to the citizens of China.”
Minister Wang said China acknowledged that Papua New Guinea had supported the nne-China policy.
He said China looked forward to supporting PNG in agriculture, forestry and people-to-people arrangements.
