‘Guided democracy’ the way to go

Letters

PAPUA New Guinea should move away from “democracy” and embrace the “guided-democracy” philosophy or system of government.
With guided democracy, we can become the richest black Christian nation on the planet.
Everything will be guided in an orderly manner towards achieving a common goal.
Movement of people will be monitored.
Nobody will be lazy and roaming around aimlessly.
Guided democracy will encourage everyone to become hardworking and productive citizens.
We will not have any liability or dependents.
There will be no poverty.
Everybody will know what they are expected to do.
With guided democracy, the true meaning of independence will be achieved.
Guided democracy will hold all citizens accountable for their actions.
There will be transparency in every dealing in all works of life.
There will be no room for malpractice and corruption to take place.
Public funds will be managed in a prudent manner, triggering massive nationwide transformation.
Guided democracy is an effective system of checks and balances.
Our freedom will be limited to a certain degree but for a noble cause for the common good.
Democracy, on the other hand creates an environment where people exercise too much freedom and their actions are not controlled.
Law and order problems, attitude problems, and corruption are getting out of hand in this country because our laws seem to be too lenient or weak.
There is no strict command and control mechanisms in place.
We have so many lazy people in this country who do not work.
When too much freedom is given to people, they do all sorts of things.
It can lead to disorder, disunity and revolt.
When too much freedom is given to politicians, it enables them to become so powerful that they dictate all systems and processes towards their liking. With guided democracy, everyone will become responsible and productive citizens and guided by a common goal.
I repeat, guided democracy should be adopted for PNG.
If we continue with democracy, we will never prosper but regress and situations will get from bad to worse.
