ROUND 16 of the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League will see Gulf Komara aim to maintain their top-four spot when they face the Tusbab Stallions in the main match of Port Moresby’s triple-header tomorrow.
Fourth-placed Komara will look to rebound from their 0-2 loss to Hekari United while the fifth-placed Stallions will be eager for a win to keep their finals hopes alive.
The Stallions have yet to register a win since the resumption of the competition with head coach Rachael Wadunah pointing out a lack of mental toughness.
“It’s mental toughness that my players have to develop,” she said.
“If they were mentally tough, they would be able to defend and play well.
“We’ve lost a lot of composure and we aren’t patient with the ball so we need to be more active in that area.”
Wadunah will be looking to her sons Jason and Ricky to lead from midfield against Komara with Kenneth Arah and Numa Kila commanding Gulf’s attack.
Meanwhile, Bougainville will be looking to extend their winning run against second-placed Vitiaz United.
But Vitiaz’s Mathew David and Johnathan Allan pose a threat to Bougainville coach David Passam and his men.
Hekari United host Morobe Wawens in Port Moresby while Lae’s double-header at Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium will see ladder leaders City face Morobe United.
Star Mountain make their return to the pitch after walking off last weekend with coach Selan Elijah’s men to meet Kutubu. Fixtures: Sat, Sept 12 – Lae City v Morobe United, Vitiaz United v Bougainville, Kutubu v Star Mountain, Hekari United v Morobe Wawens, Gulf Komara v Tusbab Stallion
