GULF Isapea’s campaign in the Digicel Cup challenge this season has been boosted with a sponsorship of K100,000 from local firm Tamake Holdings Ltd.
Tamake Holdings Ltd chief executive officer Francis Thomas Tanga made the presentation in front of the Gulf community at Gordon five to the Isapea board yesterday.
The company has been engaged in community development and youth empowerment through sports.
“We have supported local sports organisation such as the Gordon Kokofas taking part in the Southern regional Ipatas Cup challenge, touch footy, volleyball teams and others.
“It is an ongoing support and the company will review the sponsorship every year,” Tanga said. Tanga, who is a former Tarangau player, said the support was worth it because a majority of the population in Port Moresby come from Gulf.
Gulf Isapea chairman Sarea Soi thanked Tanga for the support.
“This year, Isapea will be looking at recruiting 60% of the players from the Gulf province and 40% from other centers. Gulf will excel with the support of Tanga and Tamake Holdings and we ask Gulf people throughout the country and in Port Moresby to come and support the Isapea,” Soi said.
Soi said Gulf people had struggled to survive for many years and their ability to survive was significant.
“I promise you, we are going to make a difference with the support of Tamake Holdings. I take this opportunity on behalf of the people of Gulf to thank you Tanga for the generous help,” Soi said.
