A JORDAN Kaven hat-trick helped Gulf Komara seal a spot in the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League finals with a 5-0 win over Star Mountain in Port Moresby on Saturday.
Komara finished fourth behind minor premiers Lae City, Hekari United (second) and Vitiaz United (third) after the final round of the regular season.
The Papua New Guinea Football Stadium saw a quiet opening half with forward Pala Paul’s strike giving Komara a 1-0 lead at halftime.
But Komara stepped up their attack in the second half as Kaven scored his first goal via a cross from Rupa Emil before substitute Numa Kila extended their lead to 3-0.
Without forward Pettyshen Elizah, Star Mountain failed to regain their composure in defence as Kaven bagged two more goals in 10 minutes to seal their spot in the finals.
“The boys played very well,” Komara head coach David Aua said.
