FORMER Lae City veteran skipper Raymond Gunemba says he is keen to keep playing football despite his exit from the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League (NSL) defending champions.
“I want to keep playing soccer,” the 33-year-old told The National two months after he walked away from the five-time NSL champions following the sacking of coach Peter Gunemba over their poor start to the season and early Oceania Football Confederation Champions League exit.
“I just want the sport to do away with football politics and let everyone enjoy the game,” he said.
“If we want a good future in football, we must stop the politics and focus only on developing football in the country.”
The PNG international said he was planning an NSL return after he received offers from several clubs.
“I got calls from some clubs but the problem is with our transfer,” said Gunemba, who departed City just before the closure of the NSL season’s only transfer window.
“If the Papua New Guinea Football Association can allow those of us who left City to join other clubs, then it will be good for us.
“As for myself now, I haven’t been doing much except keeping busy with family, friends and doing my own stuff.
“I don’t want to do any training, I just want to rest and recover.”
The striker along with his brother Troy Gunemba, Nigel Dabinyaba and Ronald Warisan were among a group of players who exited the club.
