LAE City Dwellers have named Papua New Guinea international Raymond Gunemba as their captain for the National Soccer League (NSL) season which kicks off this weekend.
Dwellers coach Peter Gunemba told The National yesterday that they were eager to kick off their campaign with a win over Northern Development Team in Lae on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
“We’re ready to play after a while out and it’s Raymond who will be leading the boys out this weekend,” he said.
“I’ve also named Valentine Nelson as our vice-captain to assist Raymond and I’m sure the two of them will do well this season.
“They’re both senior players and have been either playing together or against each other for almost a decade now.
“We want to put on record that we never left the NSL, we’ve always been here but under different banners.
“But now, this is our time to come out from all those names and build something strong for our future footballers.”
Gunemba said his squad of 30 players would be rotated as the season progressed.
“We have about 30 players for this season, but we’ll be rotating them during the season to see how our younger players cope and we will slot them in at different stages of the campaign.
“I’ve decided to at least have some of our development youths be part of the team because they are the future of the club.”
