Port Moresby General Hospital chief executive urges the public to drink responsibly to avoid accidents.
Dr Umesh Gupta, on receiving wheelchairs from the Rotary Club of Boroko, said a lot of people would be enquiring about using wheelchairs.
Gupta said the festive season would unfortunately see people driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
“There is a big need for people to enjoy Christmas responsibly and continue to stay safe to the New Year 2018,” he said.
Gupta said people must spend time with their families and avoid getting into accidents.
The hospital received 110 wheelchairs and spare parts and Lionel Melville, of Rotary Club of Boroko, said the priority for the organisation was to keep helping communities like Port Moresby and Central and also Northern and places such as Gulf, Milne Bay and other areas up the Highlands.
The organisation has been involved in many health and educational projects such as cervical cancer vaccination and mosquito net distribution.
