ALL schools from elementary to secondary in Western Highlands capital Mt Hagen have resumed normal classes despite minor hiccups, a senior education official says.
Provincial Education Board chairman Lawrence Pena said that schools would resume as normal despite disturbances which were election related.
“We will receive our directives only from the Education Department and the Electoral Commission to suspend classes should there be any serious occurrances that would require us to do so, otherwise classes would continue as normal,” he said.
“Currently, the provincial education division is working with the provincial government, the administration and also with the disciplined forces to avoid any unnecessary disruption to classes.”
Pena said the division was determined to stick with the education calendar.
He also said the directives to suspend classes would only come from Education secretary Dr Uke Kombra.
