Hail leaders for our new road

 I WOULD like to thank God for inspiring leaders like Don Polye, Francis Awesa and James Marape and granting approval by the CEO of the country Peter O’Neill to build the Mendi-Kandep road. I was in tears when I read about the completion of the highway (The National, July 31). 

It’s a miracle to us living along that side of the valley. We have been walking from Mt Wiri to Kandep and other parts of Lai Valley. We travel in the night, suffered cold and rain and now it’s over. I than the contractor, people of Mendi/Kandep/Lai Valley, security personnel and others who contributed towards this constructionI appeal to the people of Mendi/Kandep, especially those living along the highway, to look after the new road and the travelling public and take ownership.
