Harassment at UPNG must stop

Letters

WITH much disgust, I read on social media about a University of PNG (UPNG) female student being allegedly harassed by some men at school. Another student who was harassed also raised similar concerns. The university guards were told about the incident but they reportedly did nothing. Something needs to be done to address harassment at UPNG and other institutions in the country.Start the prosecution process and fight-back in this manner. Female students who get harassed/abused should provide statements and head for the courts.Get assistance from lawyers.Get assistance from police officers and inform the institution’s authorities about your situation and the action you want to take. Tell them you are working on prosecuting criminals on campus.Collect evidence and use your phone cameras and recorders. Get on social media and garner support. If I was in Port Moresby, I would start a protest at the doors of UPNG today. In Adelaide, South Australia, on June 1, Adelaide High School girls, aged 17, protested and walked out of their classes because of sexual abuse and bad naming in their school.Their story made headlines around the nation. The principal and everyone are now on their toes.UPNG female students (and their brothers and cousins) must stand up and fight back. There is no place for sex animals in the top institution in the country.Stand up and fight back!
I am with you.
And millions will come.
Start the prosecution process.
Be smart!
