PRIME Minister Peter O’Neill says West New Britain has set a benchmark in organising the seventh PNG Games, which will be hard for his Southern Highlands province to follow in 2020.
Closing the two-week event in Kimbe on Saturday, he commended the work of Governor Sasindran Muthuvel and the provincial government in staging the games.
“West New Britain has done a great job over the last few years to make sure they built the facilities for these games,” he said.
“You have set a very high standard, and future host provinces will have to work hard to match this level.
“I know that in 2020 when the PNG Games comes to my home province, we will do our best to welcome you over there, as you have done for everyone here.”
O’Neill also highlighted the influence of sports in bringing people together.
