HELA Wigmen rookie winger Solo Wane won the people’s choice accolade, and was named the top try scorer and winger of the year at Thursday’s Digicel Cup awards night in Port Moresby.
The 23-year-old, who hails from Upper Mendi, Southern Highlands, told The National that he had worked hard to earn his place in the country’s premier rugby league competition.
“I have been committed and disciplined all season which has helped me play well and I am happy for myself,” he said.
“I’d like to thank our coaching staff and head coach Charlie Wabo for their support.
“Wabo has instilled discipline in the side and I think that has contributed to our successful campaign.
“I wouldn’t have won the awards without the support of my teammates and club officials.”
