Hardware Haus trains managers

Hardware Haus has held a training session for its branch managers from around the country to help them serve their customers better.
General manager Steve Beattie said 10 managers from stores in Popondetta, Wewak and Port Moresby underwent training by Techtronic Industries Australia (TIA) on power tools.
Hardware Haus sells AEG and Ryobi power tools such as drills manufactured by TIA.
Beattie said the tools were supplied by Gilmore and Associates.
Export consultant Ivan Gilmore said the training was the third so far. He said the training was important because it enabled sales workers to talk to customers more reliably.
“Suppliers who are putting product in here (PNG) have to recognise the need to have a training programme and help the people,” Gilmore said.
“They do not need to know the nuts and bolts of the product, as long as they have an appreciation of the product they can sell it and answer questions from customers.”
TIA trade accountant manager Jason Widt made a presentation about battery and motor technology used in the power tools.
His presentation included safety features and user-friendly features of the power tools.
Widt said the presentation was to introduce the staff to how the tools.
