University Piggies, the defending champions, take on Harlequins in the Capital Rugby Union premier semifinal at the Bava Park in Port Moresby tomorrow.
Harlequins coach Billy Rapilla, pictured, said his players were excited about the game.
“Despite starting the year slow, we picked up along the way to get to the semifinal.
“Our game against Wanderers last week had too many errors and we won only by two points (17-15).
“So for this game, we would like to cut down on our errors.
“University have some really good experienced players.
“Their backline is solid, but will focus on our defence and try to make use of our opportunities.
“Hopefully, we can beat Universitie.”
University were defeated 30-15 by Brother last week and this match will put their title defence to the test.
Coach Paul Joseph said they would need to better utilise their options throughout the clash.
“The team will be relying on Caption George Oki’s leadership since he is one of the most experienced players,” Joseph said.
Joseph said other players he would count on were Westley Thomas and Kali Kali.
“Sammy Kupul, Jonathan Asupa and Barol Homerang have been consistent throughout the season, so hopefully they carry their form into this match.
“Our backline has been quiet recently, so we have been working on that.
“We are eager to defend our title, so this match is important to us.”
