Haul up useless Walium cops

Letters, Normal

LAST Thursday (Aug 19), a female European biologist and her two field assistants were threatened and beaten up by three locals near Beom, a remote village close to Brahmen in Bundi, Madang.
She spent a night in the forest, which is near the border of Eastern Highlands and Madang.
We arrived at Brahmen from Madang around 10pm and organised with the local people for a search party.
At 3am, an informer told us that a prime suspect was heading to Brahmen.
We caught him and the Usino-Bundi police detained him.
The next day, the suspect was then transported by the Usino-Bundi police to Walium to be detained in their cells until he could be taken to Madang to be charged.
It is very disappointing to learn that the suspect had escaped because the policemen at Walium were unprofessional and careless.
We are not police but we managed to catch the suspect.
It is a big slap in the face to see our efforts being wasted.
We were told that two policemen were transporting the suspect when he escaped.
The Walium policemen should be disciplined and given show cause letters.
