SUSSIE Uri has been appointed the acting head teacher of Wardstrip Primary School to replace Emily Ricky who has retired.
School inspector Idau Negesa said Uri had been working under Ricky as her deputy.
“She has learnt a lot from the outgoing head teacher and she is capable of stepping in. The NCD education division has confidence in Uri to take over the role,” Negesa said.
Ricky had served the department for 44 years – six of which at Wardstrip.
“On behalf of the NCD education I would like to congratulate Ricky for the work she had done and also Uri for a new leadership this year,” Negesa said.
Uri will be acting in that position this year.
“She will be acting from February to December. We recommended a number of officers but Uri was appointed to take on the role,” Negesa said.
Ricky thanked teachers and the board for their support and urged them to support Uri. Uri also acknowledged Ricky for her leadership.
“I’ve learnt a lot from Ricky and now I urge teachers and the board to help work closely with me because it is a big school.”
