Heako is St Charles dux

MATHEW Heako, who had his eye on the St Lwanga Secondary Dux of the Year award two years ago, finally claimed it last Thursday. 

From Gulf, the 17-year-old told The National: “During the start of the 2015 academic year it was my aim and this achievement was not a surprise for me but something I have worked for over the two years.’’

Heako’s dreams to be one day become an accountant just like father. 

“Being born and raised in a Christian home, I want to thank my God for this achievement and let God’s name be gloried,” he said.

His message to the upcoming Grade 10 is, “give your best, be committed and let God take the lead as your education is your future.” 

He said: “St Charles is just a perfect learning environment which I have learned a lot of things apart for academic side.” He is confidence for his exam results and looking forward for a space in Grade 11 at the St Charles Lwanga if the school upgraded to secondary level next year.

Heako looks forward to maintaining his academic performance until Grade 12 to secure a space in the tertiary institution.

He said after Grade 8 in 2005, at the Philip Aravure Primary School, his dad wanted him to go to Port Moresby International, “but I decided to be enrolled at St Charles”.

“It is my decision to be here, and I believe that it was the best decision I have made. 

“Coming from one of the provinces that lack basic services, it is my aim to be one day contribute back to help my people to have access to basic services.” 

He thanked his teachers and parents for their support.
