Health centre in dire need of assistance

THE Salamaua Health Centre building in Huon Gulf, Morobe is in dire need of repair, an official says.
Officer-in-charge Zavier Zuti said all the posts had rusted and the flooring had decayed.
He said the building housed all operations of the health centre but it needed to be condemned.
He said the concrete steps had fallen and had exerted extra weight onto the already rusted iron posts and the building would collapse soon.
“The flooring are rotten and when we walk, the building shakes and we only allow a certain number of patients to enter the building for checkup,” Zuti said.
“We only allow less than 10 people onto the building at a time while the others stand and wait outside for their turn to be treated.
“The district and provincial health teams came last week and I asked the district health manager to condemn and close the health centre.
“The house is shaking and more people could not be on the building at once as it’s not safe.”
