Health facilities well-managed

MUL-BAIYER health service manager Albert Kapun says all health and education facilities run by churches in the district are well managed and maintained.
“We have 15 health centres and 17 aid posts,” he said.
“Three aid posts are managed by the Catholic health services.”
At a presentation of a new ambulance last Thursday, Kapun said the Kuruk health facility “is the best performing health centre and it is run by a church”.
“MP Goi Trappe is happy to work in partnership with the churches because the facilities run by the four churches, Lutheran, Seventh-Day adventist, Baptist and the Catholic churches are well-managed.
“The Mul-Baiyer development authority (DDA) is also happy to work in partnership with the churches that have been playing a crucial role in providing services to people for many years.”
Development authoirty executive Wapio Ponobo said it was the authority’s responsibility to ensure that health facilities continued to provide services to the rural population in order to ease the burden of travelling to Mt Hagen to access health services.
He said the district had a population of about 98,000 and only three health facilities had ambulance service.
“We now have four ambulances to boost service delivery in the district with today’s presentation,” he said.
