A COMMUNITY health post in Gasup Tairora local level government in Obura-Wonenara, Eastern Highlands which caters for more than 7,000 people is in need of help.
Omaura community health post needs urgent renovations and medical equipment according to officer-in-charge Syron Bahi.
Bahi said the road condition was almost impassable, making it difficult to transport medical equipment and drugs as well as for referral patients to Kainantu Hospital.
He said the road condition during wet weather was particularly bad.
The health post is a church facility run by the Seventh-day Adventist church which implements the Eastern Highlands health authority’s programmes.
Bahi said it needed to be upgraded in order to cater for the growing number of patients, many of whom were infected with tuberculosis.
He said there were also some HIV/AIDS cases while the common flu, pneumonia and malaria were the main diseases treated besides delivering between 12-15 babies a month.
