MORE than 40 health workers in Morobe embarked on a four-day workshop regarding Coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccination that ended on Friday in Lae.
A total of 49 participants attended the workshop from 27 health facilities within six selected districts in the province.
National Health Department surveillance officer William Mark said the hesitancy rate on Covid-19 vaccine was very high across the country.
“We have seen that the hesitancy rate is very high, even the health workers are afraid to get the vaccine, that’s why we need this kind of training for our health workers before they go out and give the vaccines to people they must know how to do it and also get themselves vaccinated.
Community health worker from Situm health centre Atang Singoling said as health workers, they needed information, which was vital for the community and the training conducted was very informative on the Covid-19 vaccines.
“For some of us, it’s our first time to attend this kind of training, some of us have no idea about the Covid-19 and how to give vaccine to people, and this workshop has taught us a lot.
“Vaccine is important, it is up to us now to serve our people.”
