HUNTERS coach Michael Marum says his halves need to take the game by the scruff of the neck if they want to win away matches.
The Hunters mentor was candid in his response to the form of his halves pairing of brothers Ase and Watson Boas as they head into Sunday’s crucial Intrust Super Cup Round 16 fixture against the Norths Devils in Brisbane.
“We can do a lot better but we need to be more consistent especially in the halves,” Marum said.
“It’s pretty tough playing away games now because of the travel but also because all the teams know us now.
“After playing in the competition for the last two and half seasons coaches and teams now how we play.
“We need to be smarter in everything we do and a lot of that comes down to our halves. They have to work well with the hooker and guide the team around the park and call the plays.”
The Hunters travel to Brisbane on Saturday 24 hours before the 3pm kick off at Bishop Park.
The Hunters beat the Devils 38-22 in an entertaining affair in Round  7 but can expect a thorough test by a team that will feature at least five Brisbane Broncos squad members.
